Off Road Biking Off-road biking is a great way to give youself a different challenge and the only way for those not old enough to ride on the road a legal way to enjoy motorcycling. There are limited areas to go off-road motorcyling in North Lincolnshire and the Motorcycle Forum is keen to see more sites developed so that more people can get access and get riding. There are organised events run by clubs where you can watch or take part in, no matter what your age or experience, and a few places you can visit where you are able to enjoy a day riding off-road. There are three North Lincolnshire based off-road motorcycle clubs: Scunthorpe Motorcycle Club holds 12 competitive trials a year at venues inlcuding Ashby Ville, Walcot Hillside, Whitton Cliff, Manton Quarry and Leggot's Quarry at South Ferriby. The events ar eopen to all ages from children as young as six year old to youth classes (up to 17yrs), from adults to veterans still riding in their seventies. Humberside Hawks Sporting Motorcycle Club hold six trials a year at Wilson's Quarry at South Ferriby. There are classes for all age groups. North Lincs Classic Motorcycling hold their events at Walcot Hillside and Ashby Ville. They have eight events a year that specialise in older machines dating from pre 1965 and those with twin shockers. Other off-road motorcycle clubs in Lincolnshire include the Horncastel based Banovalum Motorcycling Club who roganise six Enduro events each year, and the Lincoln Motorcycling and Car Club that run motorcycle trials events. If you don't want to get involved in organised events there are some sites you can go to on your own for some off-road biking: An annual fee at Wilson's Quarry at south Ferriby will allow you to take your own trials bike and ride the tracks there. Blyton Airfield has an off-road motorcycling project. For a small fee you can take your own bike or hire and ride one of the projects machines. The scheme is available at weekends. Youth organisations can also arrange for a Project Instructor to take groups of up to 12 young people for a comprehensive motorcyle riding and training day - you will need to book in advance. North Lincolnshire Council will be running the very popular Summer Motorcycle Scheme again during the 2007 school summer holidays. Details will be posted when we have them.
